Aranxä

EL PAREDÓN, GUATEMALA

When I saw Aranxä on Airbnb, I planned an entire piece of our Guatemala trip around it because I so strongly wanted to stay at this villa. Located on a black sand beach in the surfing town of El Paredón, this 3-bedroom eco-villa has a pool overlooking the ocean and an open-air style of stay. In an effort to preserve energy in this small coastal town, the villa opted against ACs, but with the ocean breeze and a few fans, you won’t even notice.

Have you ever stayed in a home so beautiful, so magical, so perfect, that you extended your trip for an additional week? That’s what I did at Casa Melmar, and I had my next trip booked before I left.

The villa is designed by Anonymous Arquitectos, who did an incredible job blending living with the surrounding nature. During every hour of the day, beautiful new lights and shadows appear in the rooms and living spaces.

Wake up to the sound of the ocean. Eat a delicious local breakfast handmade by Chef Reyna. Drink coffee in the pergola before spending all day at the pool and beach while Clau and Abel keep your cups and stomach full. Sit and read, take yoga classes, or get a massage in the garden. Walk the secluded beaches at sunset before rinsing off in one of the two outdoor showers and then get ready for a delicious dinner surrounded by friends and family. Drink wine under the stars before retreating to your air-conditioned, spacious room (each has its own en suite bathroom) for the best night of sleep of your life.
